Looking for Online LPN Programs?

Online LPN programs enable working adults to become licensed practical nurses in a relatively short period of time. Interchangeable with a licensed vocational nurse (LVN), an LPN is a nurse who treats persons who are injured, disabled, or sick while under the supervision of doctors or registered nurses (RNs). LPNs can perform such basic tasks as taking a patient's vital stats like temperature, pulse, and blood pressure. When you enroll into an online LPN program you are preparing to enter an exciting career in the health care industry.

In order to truly become an LPN, you must successfully finish courses from an accredited online LPN program, pass an exam, and graduate. The exam is called the NCLEX-PN, and passing this exam will enable you to obtain your nurse's license. There are few prerequisites for enrolling into an LPN program, generally consisting of a high school diploma or GED. You can usually find many accredited online LPN programs offered through a local community college or some vocational schools. A growing number of hospitals and even universities are also providing online LPN programs.

Coursework and training will generally require a year of effort. You will learn various nursing concepts and theories pertaining to patient care. Topics such as anatomy, physiology, pediatrics and first aid are also required subject within any of the online LPN programs. After completing one of the online LPN programs you may decide that you want to further your education and become a registered nurse (RN). You will discover that becoming an LPN is simply the first step towards a successful career in the health care industry.

Finishing any of the online LPN programs will enable you to be working and be on your way towards earning a substantial salary. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics has announced that their findings indicate that the average annual salary for a graduate of online LPN programs is roughly $33,970.

Many students who enroll into an LPN program come from other professions where they no longer felt content. These students decided to change their lives and help others live better lives. Many LPNs work in rehabilitation centers, or emergency rooms and other places where the situation for some patients is truly life and death. They need help and LPNs are there to provide the care that they need.

Online LPN programs are rigorous and require hard work and determination. You will find some courses difficult while others will be much easier. However, in the end, online LPN programs help nurses learn how to help other people.
